OF WORK AND PLACES

A fascination for decaying empires (Central Asia), the need to discover other worlds (India), and a love of amazing smiles (South Asia Is) incited me to start this one year photo journey in Asia.

Initially the subject was broad: work in general, without any specific approach.Very quickly I soon realized that I felt better spending lot of time on places of work, in order to get closer to the people.

The photo itself started to look for new, interesting places with one key criteria : no tragedy or exploitation. A little persistence, the help of good people, chance (or the hand of God) opened many doors and provided me with very rich human adventures.

The result is a rich diversity of work in terms of activities (industry, agriculture, arts, religions...). and also in terms of places: some are just a set of buildings (a factory, a studio, a stage), others are open (pastures, fields), and some are even physically non existent (political party, NGO).

Through Asia, the project tried to explore what places of work can be, or through the places of work, the project wanted to approach what Asia can be. But I would let you be the judge…
